DNA Testing for Children
Nutrigenomics for Children
Nutrigenomics is the study of how genetic differences can affect the way a person responds to specific nutrients and how food affects a personís genes. Doctors have begun to turn to nutrigenomic testing to understand the source of a variety of health issues and diseases, ranging from obesity to ADHD. Nutrigenomic testing is a type of genetic testing that looks for variations in the genes called single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs).
Genomix Nutrition nutrigenomic tests obtain DNA for testing by simply swabbing the inside of a patientís cheek. The test identifies variations in 5 key metabolic areas: Methylation, Detoxification, Neurotransmitter Processing, Mitochondrial Function, and Inflammatory Potential. Genomix Nutritionís nutrigenomic report provides your test results, short descriptions of each metabolic area, analysis of your results, and provides dietary and supplementation recommendations according to your report. With the Genomix Nutrition test kit, itís simple to test kidsí DNA and provide them with their
personalized nutrition without any blood or spit samples. The blueprint for good health is just a simple cheek swab away.
As children develop their lifelong eating habits early on, itís crucial to help children make the right nutritional choices as foods are introduced. With nearly 1 in 3 children in America being overweight or obese, parents should do all they can to set their kids up for long, healthy, and happy lives. Unfortunately, that is easier said than done. Kids nutritional needs are reprioritized as they grow. Certain nutrients become more important as children develop and nutritional needs change as they become teenagers. Even the gender of your child can play a role. Compound a complex situation with ever-changing food preferences, and the job of making sure your kids stay healthy can seem impossible.
Genomix Nutrition is here to help.
Genetic Testing for Kids
If your child is not receiving their necessary nutrients, your pediatrician will likely recommend certain foods and supplements to fill in the gaps within your childís diet. With nutrigenomic testing, providers can look into childrenís genetic makeup, see which biologically processes need nutritional support to function at an optimal level, and recommend foods and supplements with the genetic results provided. Nutrigenomics allows pediatricians to understand the genetic source of health and dietary issues and create a personalized and informed treatment.
